I never thought in a million years that I would be here today with a book but here I am.

Growing up, I learned very quickly that telling friends about my condition was not always safe. After opening up, I was bullied badly, and I learned to stay silent. For a long time, I believed that keeping quiet was the only way to protect myself.

As an adult, I now know that silence is not the answer. Talking about epilepsy matters. It helps others understand what epilepsy is, how it affects daily life, and what to do if I have a seizure. Most importantly, it reminds others living with epilepsy that they are not alone.

That is why I wrote Laughing Through the Storm. Alongside sharing my story, I brought in a lot of humor because laughter has always been my coping mechanism, even during difficult moments. I am incredibly proud of what I wrote and grateful that you are here.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Laughing Through the Storm

Life with Epilepsy: Unpredictable, and Unexpectedly Funny

Diagnosed with epilepsy at 13, Jane’s life took a wild turn full of seizures, specialists, and some seriously strange hospital adventures. But instead of letting it break her, she learned to laugh—at the chaos, the cringe, and even the curveballs. Laughing Through the Storm is a hilariously honest memoir about finding resilience, ridiculousness, and unexpected joy in the middle of life’s messiest moments.
